The Battle of Port-en-Bessin also known as Operation Aubery took place from 7–8 June 1944, at a small fishing harbour west of Arromanches during the Normandy landings of World War II.

After a successful drop, they set off for their objective a mere 1,000 yards away – only to be met with machine gun fire from a farm on the outskirts of town.
