A23.6 - Thrown DC question

Post by Eric-SL »

Hey guys, quick question about thrown demo charges.

If a unit throws a DC during the defensive FF Phase does it leave residual, and if so does it also leave residual on the throwers hex? Also, do the residual attacks get the DRMs that thrown DCs get, +2/+3?

tnx

Interesting question. without a rules dive I would say a thrown DC doesn't leave resid because it's a single use weapon. :?:

To leave residual a DC must be thrown in DFF, so:
A8.2: When a unit is attacked by Defensive First First Fire/Subsequent First Fire/FPF, the target Location in which the attack is resolved (even if in Bypass) is marked with a Residual FP counter equal to half (up to a maximum of 12 after adjustment as per 8.26; FRD) of the highest IFT FP column used for that attack.

I also found a Q/A relating to it from the Perry Sez (Perry Cocke) file I have:
A8.2, A8.26, & A23.6
Does a Thrown DC leave Residual FP in both the target and thrower’s Locations (assuming that the thrower’s Location can be so
attacked)?
A. Yes.

Is the amount of Residual FP left by the Thrown DC reduced for the +2/+3/+4 DRM (as applicable) per A8.26 (i.e., does this
DRM count as a “condition outside the target Location”)?
A. Yes (yes).
So I guess the official answer is yes, even though a DC is a single use weapon like aslfaust says. PF do not leave residual per A8.25 and C13.31.

Is it possible to have the Q&A show up as a quick access button in the forum?
