I want to wade, not jump or leap, back in to asl after being away for a LONG time. Whats the quickest was to get back in without feeling like I'm drinkin from a firehose?
start with SL again?
Starter Kit?
programmed inscturtion asl like SL
or just man up and stumble into the ASL fire?
Hmm, it really depends on the individual. I think I can safely say that starting with Squad Leader isn't the most efficient method as you will later spend time unlearning a lot of things once you jump into ASL.
I would recommend jumping back in with the Starter Kits or "programmed ASL", meaning starting with infantry (chapter A and what you need from B), the slowly adding guns (chapter C), then vehicles (chapter D). This is basically how SK works. It divides ASL into easier to consume chunks. Either method works great.
I do not recommend trying to absorb the entire ASL rulebook at once before trying to play.

Thanks Neal. That's beginning to be my thinking. I don't think I want to take the time and money to do starter kit so I'm inclinded to just dip my toe in gradually starting with infantry chapter A. Ill check out your vasl videos as I've never used it before but front the scrennshots I've seen you post here it looks pretty interesting
I agree. If you want to make ASL a lifelong hobby, take it in managable bites. And work your way into it nice and easy. Theres no real reason to rush it
