Is there any linkage between the old hard back maps and the new lettered maps?My Squad leader maps and counters were flood damaged and had to be junked however I have reinvested in a full set of ASL starter lots but managed to save my scenarios which relate to numbers not letters.

What do you mean by "linkage"? All Starter Kit maps are designated with lower case letters. All full ASL geomorphic maps use numbers.

You can still get the original boards 1-4, etc. Most of them come in Beyond Valor, you might be able to buy them individually on MMPs site or Ebay.

The letters and numbers are completely separate.
It may be a little complicated because there are also letters for the deluxe size boards (with really large hexes). A couple of deluxe boards is equal to half a normal board in hexes, but I digress.

Numbers represent (for the most part) the order of their release, so in general older scenarios will naturally use lower board numbers because they were the only ones available when the scenario was designed.

But new scenarios can theoretically use any of the 90 official MMP boards.
