The German offensive to retake Kharkov put the Russian Voronezh Front in disarray. Shortages of fuel and ammo hampered the Russians. The situation got worse on March 13th when the Grossdeutschland Division attacked north of Kharkov along the seam between the 40th and 69th Armies. Penetrating deep into the Russian lines, the armored elements, including a company of Tigers, turned northeast in the direction of Tomarovka. The Russian command committed the 3rd Guards Tank Corps to slow down the German advance.

While the Clash at Borisovka scenario isn’t a direct recreation of a named battle, it fits squarely within the framework of the Third Battle of Kharkov and the engagements around Belgorod, where mobile tank formations collided across open terrain, with neither side able to rely on the cover of dense forests or cities. It is a clash of doctrine, design, and desperation: Soviet numerical superiority and battlefield aggression versus German mechanical sophistication and tactical patience.

This scenario is a great one to learn the intricacies of AFV combat in the ASLSK system, heck, even the full ASL system. My plan with this “Let’s Play” series is to help people grasp the vehicle and AFV combat rules. The scenario is 5 turns long, let’s see if it goes that long.

Boot Camp tutorials are rule and tactical discussions for new and veteran players. These tutorials are mere summaries and examples and are NOT meant as exhaustive replacements for reading the relevant rule sections.
